I (Brooke) want to wish all of you a happy New Year.
Reflecting back on the last year, I found myself grateful for so many things, but there were some challenges in the mix as well. I think the most frequent question or topic discussed in the store was the difference between what we know to be true, (for example a loving God) and our experience that sometimes at best seems like “embracing the suck”.
As I was asking the Universe for some clarity, I just happened (ha-ha) to hear a spiritual teacher address a question to a woman that was pondering the same issues that I was. This was his answer: “The place you are in is an O.K. place to be. The ethic of the ego is such that you are not allowed the time or space to be nowhere. As a result, when you find yourself in that nowhere place, you unavoidably feel guilty. If the caterpillar refused to allow himself to be in the nowhere place; in the chrysalis, where he has to let go of all form and structure and is an undifferentiated mass of jelly; you would never have a butterfly. Although a caterpillar has been willing to give up all structure that has identified it, it could no more stay in that nowhere place indefinitely. The nowhere place is a place of regrouping. It is the vestibule between what has been and what will be. It is essential.”
The answer made sense to me. As I am letting in the new, I get to let go of the old (which is also familiar). If I associate the letting go with loss, then the experience will seem negative. I think I can relax a little if I remember; the resolution is in the hands of a loving Universe. The Bible says God’s dictum is: “Behold, I make all things new.” (Rev. 21:5)
I would love for all of us moving forward to know that God is fulfilling a promise. Our lives and circumstances are being made new in the most wonderful of ways, that only the Infinite can make happen.
