Greetings from all of us here at Serenity Now.

I (Brooke) want to thank you for being a huge source of Light in our lives.

As I was thinking about what has been going on in our world the past few months, I just found I was in disbelief. A couple of times I woke up in the morning and thought; “What a crazy nightmare!” Then realized, no, this is an actual event.

I consider myself a person of faith and I have been praying every day for the blessings that I feel Gods promises entitles us to. However, I could feel doubts and fears slipping in. One day I found myself asking God; “I just need a sign of hope”. I got my sign in the most unusual place. I felt guided to watch a program about Hulk Hogan. At this point I basically knew only two things about him. One, that he was a wrestler and two, that he lived right in our backyard. I believe in Clearwater. I even remember seeing him at a restaurant while I was having lunch.

The program is called Objectified. Harvey Levin interviews celebrities about objects in their homes, believing that the items that we treasure say something significant about us. One of the items that they talked about was a yellow legal pad. Harvey was curious as to why a notebook would play a key role in this celebrity’s life. The answer was that during a very controversial court case, Hulk would take this legal pad in with him and write “affirmations” during the proceedings. They actually showed the sentences on the pages. One sentence read “I am victorious in this battle”. Then there were three words that were scribbled over and over again; “God, Thank You!” I could not believe my eyes. Hogan shared that he was victorious at the end of the case and was awarded $148 million dollars.

Then Harvey asked about another legal situation where Hogan’s 16 year old son was sentenced to an adult prison. When he would call him, Hulk would read him a section from the book The Secret or The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, and the Bible. At one point in the interview, Hogan admitted that his life had been overwhelming and he couldn’t see another way out but to commit suicide. He went as far as putting a gun in his mouth. In the split second that it would have taken him to pull the trigger, his phone rang and it was Muhammad Ali’s daughter Laila just wanting to chat. After they got off the phone he was in a different head space and obviously didn’t go through with his plan.

After the program was over, I knew that there was a message here for me. I think my take-away was that circumstances can feel overwhelming, but I can keep my eyes on the infinite power of the Universe and still come out on the other side victorious.
