Greetings from all of us here at Serenity Now. Thank you for the blessing you are in our lives!
I (Brooke) wanted to explore the topic of Prosperity and Abundance this month. There were several back-to-back events that shed some light on the issue for me. The first one was when I ran into a friend at the grocery store (of all places). She seemed a little upset, and she shared with me that she was having a difficult time with her finances. She and her husband have a net worth of several million dollars. However, her husband was worried about the state of the economy, and the bad turn it might take, so they were paying themselves a stipend of a few hundred dollars a month for spending, and leaving the millions untouched. She was actually worrying if she had enough to pay for the groceries!
Just a few days later, I met a young man who was in our store for the very first time. During our conversation, he mentioned that he liked his job, but after taxes he was “only” going to take home $150,000 this year. It took everything in me not to let my jaw drop.
Soon after that, several people came in to Serenity Now in complete fear, because their “money was running out.” I am not a person who believes in coincidence, so I knew all these situations had a gift for me. The clincher came when a friend of mine, who is one of those wise people who has a quote a minute, said: “No matter how thin the pancake, it still has two sides.”
That’s when I had an “Aha” moment. The common denominator in all these situations was the vantage point. The other side of the pancake, in the case of millions of dollars, would have been: “Let’s enjoy these millions, and know that the same infinite Universe that allowed this blessing, will carry us through.” In the case of “only $150, 000”, the word only, indicated a situation of lack, instead of absolute proof of the exact opposite. The other side of that pancake in the case of fear when the “money is running out,” would be “How awesome is it that I still have money!”
Sharing from personal experience, one time I had exactly $2.00 to my name. Another time I had 3 pennies. The significance was that I did have money! Of course, I am still alive and kicking. I almost wish I could go back in time, and tell myself in that moment, “You are going to be fine, it’s all working out for your good.”
I would like to invite you to join me in this month of August, (if you so choose), to try a new vantage point in recognizing the abundance and prosperity in our lives, and allowing more to come.
